DOUBLE HILLS MEMORIAL IN PAULTON,
This year the memorial service at Double Hills will be on the 4th September. The memorial service is to remember the 23 lives lost when their glider crashed on the 17th September 1944. The men who died were the first casualties of Operation Market Garden, the plan to land an allied airborne army behind enemy lines. 21 of the dead were members of the 9th Field Company (Airborne) Royal Engineers. The other 2 were from the Glider Pilot Regiment. 22 Engineer Regiment are involved this year and the SW Group AGM is planned to be held after the service. At the moment the time for the AGM to start is 18.00 hrs.
This month we are having a talk about SSAFA so it should be quite interesting for most of us.
