IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING THE GURKHA RESTAURANT.
THE LUNCH BOOKED TO TAKE PLACE ON TUESDAY 22nd JULY  WILL NOT TAKE PLACE.
Sorry for the lateness of notice.  Captain Gurung has had to cancel this booking as it can not be guaranteed.  .He expresses thanks to the Branch for our custom and company during the last few years.

BIRTHDAYS OF NOTE.
Many happy returns this month go to Major George Bubb who will celebrate his 90th Birthday
on 23rdJuly, Also William Mills who will be 90 on 6th August and not forgetting Bill Marklew who becomes 80 on 15th  August .

ENTERTAINMENT.  Tonight we will be having a Skittles Evening.
The meal will be a Ploughman’s Supper which must have been booked and paid for in advance
The Social Secretary is looking for volunteers for   1) Sticking up, and   2) Putting away after the event.
Please do help as it is only with your help that this can take place.
In August on Wednesday 20th we are due to meet Brian Chidley and learn all about "Police Driving".
   
SOUTH WEST GROUP, R.E.A. B.B.Q.
This is due to take place at 22 Engineer Regiment Pernham Down, (Near Tidworth) on Sunday 27th July. The Social Secretary has arranged transport for this event. Bookings Now Closed
The times are arrive,11.00 Hrs.   16.30 Hrs Disperse.    Coach Times are Depart Parkstone  09.00 Hrs.   Ferndown R.B.L. 09.15 Hrs. Please arrive on time.

MINOR COMMITTEE DUTY CHANGES.
1) With effect from August, Mike Herbert is to take over the collecting of names and contacting the caterers at our Monthly Lunches.   Lists on the table tonight. 
Don’t forget that if you are unable to attend meetings and would like to go to our lunches do contact  Mike Herbert  on 01202  674612.
Please let Mike know before Noon on the Sunday before the Lunch  if you need to cancel as this assists the caterers with food and seating.
We no longer will be using North Road R.B.L for our lunches.

2) John Griffiths, will now be responsible for arranging, taking the orders and all monies, for the Fish/Chicken and Chip Suppers, which is due to take place on our Bingo Night to be held at the October meeting.  More details next month.   
Peter Piggott is to remain in charge of all other social events.




INFORMAL  LUNCH.
The next lunch will be held on Tuesday 5th August at FERNDOWN, ROYAL BRITISH LEGION CLUB.    
As from this date all our monthly lunches will be held at  FERNDOWN on the First Tuesday of each month.  Remember to contact Mike on 01202 674612 for bookings or cancellations .

MARKING THE START OF WORLD WAR ONE 1914 TO 1918.
Around the local districts remembering World War One events are taking place.  In Poole on Sunday
3RD August.  A Civic Service and Commemoration Parade will be held starting at 15.30hrs, at St.James
Church, with a Parade along the Quay to the Guildhall.  Bert Martin is due to parade our Standard.
If you would like to attend just the Service go directly to the church at 15.45 hrs.
Bournemouth will be taking part in the national LIGHTS OUT initiative on 4th August 2014 between
10pm - 11pm. Lights across the town will be turned off leaving on single lights or candles for a shared moment of reflection marking the start of WW1. The Mayor will be leading a candlelit ceremony at the War Memorial in the Gardens. But no other details yet available.  
Christchurch, Will hold a free live swing concert to mark this event called 'A Night to Remember' on Thursday 24th July at 18.30 Hrs. at St. Peter's School playing fields in Iford. The concert will feature the Swing Unlimited Big Band who play great songs from the wartime era, with a firework finale.  Food and drink will be available. No doubt other events may be happening but we have not been notified.
 
FORCES TV
This is a new channel launching in the UK and is the only TV channel devoted to the armed forces and the world of defence.  The channel covers a wide range of reports, features, live events, human interest stories, documentaries, interviews and competitions. It is found on Sky 299. Freesat. 652
Virgin 244.

TELEPHONE NUMBERS.
It has come to light Members have switched their telephones and have not notified the Secretary of such actions. It is important these number alterations are made known so he can contact you if the need arises. So, if this the case, will you please contact Allan as soon as possible.

THE BRANCH WEB SITE.
This has a great collection of photographs of Ted Young about his trip to France for D/Day 70. 
Also added are a group of photographs take in Poole, on his visit to the Mayors Parlor, among those
present is Bob Hucklesby.    Many thanks go to Paul and Irene Richards for the photographs, and not forgetting Hank our Web Master for the work and time he spends in getting not only these pictures but all the many other items he publishes for us.
