Newsletter for Branch AGM meeting on 15^th March 2017

Denis Brown.

We sadly report that Denis passed away on Saturday 25^th February, condolences go to his wife Deana and to his family our thoughts are with you. Denis was attached to the Bournemouth Branch as a life member in December 1998 where Denis and his wife Deana soon became active members.  In 2000 he was appointed Welfare officer for a short while till he was elected Treasurer until 2004 when he left the committee.

Denis had good memories of his time in the corps during the last years of the National service era where he spent his service at No 1 TRRE at Malvern and at Chatham

The funeral service will take place on Wednesday 22^nd March 2017 at St Michael’s church Hamworthy at 1400hrs.

Betty Smith

 Also we have been informed that one of our Widows has passed away, Betty who was the wife of late Ron Smith who passed away several years ago.

INFORMAL LUNCH

The next informal lunch will be on Tuesday 4^th April at noon at the RBL Ferndown, lists on the table tonight, any further information from John Cusack.

Branch subs 

Are due now, no change from last year at £15 and paid to the treasurer now.

 May meeting

At the May meeting we will be holding a Bingo and Fish & chip evening so will be collecting the monies, £4.50p, at the March and April meetings.

Vacancies    

Phil has given notice that he wishes to stand down from his post as President, so a new President is needed for the AGM, also Richard is standing down as Social secretary and Peter wishes to stand down as welfare officer and Vice Chairman so these posts need to be filled ASAP, nomination forms are on the table tonight or if required contact John Griffiths if you need one by post.  These positions need filling urgently. These positions apart from the President and Vice chairman could be filled by a Lady of the branch.

New forest members

We have notification that 10 New Forest branch members are to be attached to us following their disbanding, so IM sure we will give them our usual welcoming when they come to visit.

Branch annual Lunch

The Annual lunch is to be held on 29^th April 2017 at the Cumberland Hotel and the cost will be £17.50p per person, payment and menu choice to Richard by 1^st April.

Entertainment

The entertainment at the April meeting will be Dale Johnston with his Home guard Presentation, could be a very entertaining evening complete with Austin 7 MOD vehicle and equipment.

WELFARE  ( Please note)

Our present Welfare officer Peter has decided to stand down as branch welfare officer after 16 years, so if any members need welfare assistance please contact either the Chairman Allan Grover or Secretary John Griffiths
