Newsletter –OCTOBER 2016 Branch meeting Wednesday 19th

Please note that any information intended for the newsletter to be passed onto John Griffiths by the Saturday before the next meeting.

Because of the amount of catering to be produced at the Christmas branch meeting we need to know an approximate number of members intending to attend to save producing too much food at the buffet.
Could you please try to help the ladies by letting John Griffiths know by the November meeting if you will be attending on this evening, entertainment is  RETRO RITA who entertained us earlier in the year.

Monthly Lunch

Branch informal lunch held on the first Tuesday of the month at RBL Ferndown club at noon.
The November Lunch will be on November 1st. List on the table tonight, please contact John Cusack if you are unable to attend

Welfare

It is with sadness that we report the sudden death of Audrey the wife of member Tony Jennings who passed away on September 25th. The funeral service will be held at Poole crematorium 0n 17th October.

John Friberg is now out of hospital and being looked after by his wife

Peter has been in touch with the branch widows on his annual telephone calls, all are in good spirits and thanked him for his call and thanked the branch for the Newsletter and wished everyone well.

Ted Youngs Daughter sent a message saying that Ted will be going into respite for a while 9th till 20 th October to Fairways in Boscombe where he is always well looked after, then on 8th December he has been invited to ST James Palace to a Christmas party with a member of  Royalty there. With cap badge polished to a high standard.

SECRETARY

West Moors Parish Council will be holding the usual Remembrance parade on 13th November at the Petwyn Green war memorial.  Anyone wishing to lay a Wreath to contact West Moors parish council on 01202861044

Ferndown Remembrance period this year will be marked by the award of the Dorset county Poppy Launch to the the town of Ferndown which will see a day of celebrations, a children’s young Poppies Parade a band concert and other forms of entertainment.
Part of the opening will be the parade of Standards, All members are invited.

John Cusack would like to inform the branch members about a Festival to be held at the Regent theatre Christchurch on 6th November 2016 called QUEEN AND COUNTRY It will be a Flag waving event similar to the Festival of Remembrance tickets £12.50p with £10.50p for concessions.

SOCIAL

At the November branch meeting we will be entertained by Bob Hucklesby,( one of our own), on a talk about his service career which promises to be a good evening.  (To be confirmed)

TREASURER

Branch subscriptions this year are £15 if you haven’t paid yet please let the Treasurer have your subs as soon as possible. Many thanks to those who have paid already and to those who have made a donation
