NEWSLETTER MARCH 2016.  Branch Meeting Wednesday 16th

OUR STANDARD ON DUTY
 At the request of Ferndown British Legion Bert Martin carried our Standard at the recent funeral of
   Ronald Williams Taylor, a Legion Member.  Ronald served in the Royal Engineers, enlisting in
   September 1944.  He held the rank of Sgt during service until 1952.   The funeral was held at St
   Andrews Church Kinson and the Drape was used.  Our thanks to Bert and our Member's sympathy to
   family and friends

  BRANCH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.
  This will take place at the Branch meeting tonight.  At this Meeting the election of officers will take
  place

  ENTERTAINMENT
 At the meeting in APRIL we look forward to a talk by MIKE ANDREWS
   entitled "GRAND HOUSES OF MUDEFORD".  Then in MAY it is our Quiz night with a Fish/Chicken
   supper. The cost of food will be £4.70 and must be booked and paid for in advance.  Money and
   bookings will  be taken at the March and April meetings.  Cheques are preferred but please note that
   separate cheques are required if paying for the Annual Lunch at the same time.



BRANCH COMMITTEE VACANCIES.
Newsletter.   Mike Herbert reluctantly needs to  relinquish his post as Newsletter Editor, plus the postal and email monthly distribution.  Please consider this position.  Mike needs this post to be filled as soon as possible

STANDARD BEARER.
If you would be willing to be trained as a Standard Bearer Bert Martin will be more than pleased to give all the help needed.

MONTHLY LUNCHES
There will NOT be a lunch in April.  Further forthcoming arrangements to be announced shortly.




Branch Annual Lunch
As notified in earlier Newsletters the 2016  Branch Annual Lunch will be held at the Cumberland Hotel. East Cliff. Bournemouth Saturday 7th  May 12.30 for 13.00 hrs.
Richard Silsby has now agreed the menu with the Hotel at a cost of £17.00 per headMenu and order form were attached to earlier  Newsletter.  Please return bookings to Richard  with payment - no later than 1st April.   Wendy and Gwen will be accepting bookings and money at the meetings.  Raffle prizes will be needed and gratefully accepted.



SOUTH WEST DISTRICT EVENTS 2016
.AGM. This will take place at WOs' and Sgts' Mess' 22 Engineer Regiment, Swinton Barracks. Perham Down.  (Tidworth)   Post code  SP21 9LQ  on Saturday, 19th March.   All booking now closed.

STANDARD BEARERS RALLY & SAPPER EVENT
This event  will be held on Saturday 4th June.  A  Mini Bus - seating 14 - has been booked at a cost of £5 per person.  Names are needed for travel.  The departure time will be 1030am. from Ferndown British Legion.  If using your own car please give details to Secretary John Griffiths. Lunch will be provided, although no cost available until all district REA Branches have returned attendance figures.

CHILWELL WEEKEND & SAPPER 300
Taking place at Chetwynd Barracks on 10th - 12th June .  All details from Secretary.

BBQ.  Sunday 31st July, to involve all Branches in the SAPPER 300 celebrations with serving Member of the Corps.     All details from BRANCH SECRETARY
