Branch Meeting Wednesday 18th.
WELFARE
It was a pleasure to meet Lily Easthope wife of Ken at the wreath laying on D/Day 70,
in Poole after she had suffered such a serious fall. Another piece of good news is that George Wilby is now recovering at home.
ENTERTAINMENT. Tonight we will be having a presentation
from J. Ives entitled
"Research Into Space". Our
entertainment on Wednesday 16th July will be a Skittles Evening.
The meal will be a Ploughman’s
Supper at a cost of £2.50. Names
and Money will be collected tonight All food must be ordered and paid for in
advance. The Social Secretary is looking for volunteers for 1)
Building the alley, 2)Sticking up, and 3) Putting
away after the event.
Please
do help as it is only with your help that this can take place.
SOUTH WEST GROUP,
R.E.A. B.B.Q.
This
is due to take place at 22 Engineer
Regiment Pernham Down, (Near Tidworth) on Sunday 27th July. The Social Secretary has arranged
transport for this event. The cost will be £8.00
per passenger. The food will be
priced at £10.00 Lt
Col Wilkinson R.E. Commanding
Officer 22, Engineer Regiment, has agreed to host the event. The times are arrive,11.00 Hrs.

HICKS' MEMORIAL AWARD 2014. Is due
to be presented at this event.
INFORMAL LUNCHES.
The
next lunch will be held on Thursday 3rd
July at the POOLE EX-SERVICEMEN'S CLUB, NORTH ROAD . NOTE The times for North Road have changed. (Club will not be open before
NOON,.
Meal to start at
12.15).
As
from this date all our monthly lunches will be held at FERNDOWN,
ROYAL BRITISH LEGION CLUB. Also in
July on the 22nd we
are due to go to the GURKHA RESTAURANT. This
will need to be confirmed as the Captain who owns the Gurkha is due to leave
soon.
We shall miss him when this happens as he has always treated us very
kindly. So we wish him all the very best for the future.

REMEMBERING D-DAY.
Wreath
laying events took place in many districts locally, to mark the 70th
anniversary of the Normandy Landings. At
Poole 4 Members and 4 ladies were present and Bert Martin paraded the Branch Standard. At Ferndown a well attended Drum Head
Service took place.
One
other event of note was at Tarrant Rushton which was the site where the Horsa
Gliders left for France ,
which marked the start of the invasion.

SOUTH WEST GROUP
ANNUAL STANDARD BEARERS RALLY
Held
on Sunday 25th May. The Branch was represented by 7 Members
and 5 Ladies.
Bert Martin paraded our standard,
and took part in the competition which was won by the Standard Bearer from the
Weymouth Branch. This is the first
year that a Mini Bus has been available, for which we have to thank Peter and Jan Bridle, also Branch
Secretary for arranging this. With special mention to Jan who drove as all so brilliantly. Thank you all very much.
